This show has won lots of award. According to wiki it has won like 6 awards for the 47th Television Drama Academy Awards. In this show my favourite actor, YAMAPI XD won the 2006 1oth Nikkan Sports Drama Awards as the best actor ! Now pretty faces aside, sure, the actors all looks pretty. But is it really a good show ? Lets take a peek.

What it's All About

As the english name suggest, its about makeovers. The main cast of the show, Kiritani Shuji (acted by kame), is the most popular boy in the school. To him life is a game. By maintaning his 'cool' he can get through his school life without any problem, or so he thought. In another words, he is 'fake' not really behaving naturally. Then there is this boy, Kusano Akira (yamapi), he is a very carefree and cheerful guy. He seems to be very high all the time. Always laughing his head off and doing weird and funny antics. Though he is not as popular as Shuji. And then there is Kotani Nobuko/Nobuta by Maki. She is a seriously depress girl who always look at life negatively. She is always bullied and look down. Not to mention she looks like some one in The Ring when i first saw her. Creeepy.

The story is about this 2 guys trying to change Nobuta into someone popular. So that she will no longer be bullied and look down upon. The story is told from Shuji's point of view. As the story develops, he changes his view on life as he and Kusano changes Nobuta. This is a story about 3 friends impacting each other's life.

Personal Thoughts

Seriously this is a good show. All the actors acted the role well. Kame acted his role as a popular kid in school, and yes, he did it well. He reminds me of my school days where in a group of boys, there will be one who is particulary 'cool' and has his say. And in those circles of friends there will usually be jargons that are only understandeble by those who are in their circle. And yeah you get tonnes of those jargons when you watch the show. Through him, you can see the life of a 'popular' kid. True its fun to get all the attention but it is also stressful at the same time to always try to be 'perfect' and acceptable in the eyes of other students. As the story progress his view on popularity changes and he strives to behave more like himself.

Kiritani Shuji

Kusano Akira, oh man...how i like him. He is the joker of the entire show. The show will be very boring without him. You naturally smile when you see his funny and stupid moves. He is a very enjoyable character. In fact some of his enthuasism has rub of onto me. lol. Most of his role in order dramas are usually very serious, gloom/dark and quiet. Its good to see that he could act as a funnier and 'brighter' role.

And as for Nobuta, she is quite a cutie, but in this show she was able act as a freaky and emo girl. She rarely smiles and when she does smile, it looks like she is smirking or having a stomach ache. As the story progresses she changes into a more confident girl. Ugly Betty anyone ? Only that this Betty is very emo-ish and very suicidal. Lol. NOBUTA POWER !

Nobuta (seriously)

As for the side kicks, the teachers especially, are quite funny themselves. The vice principal is a ninja who jumps from roof to roof to reach school because of 'traffic jam'. She is very supertitious and she laughs like a hag lmao.

Conclusion

It's a shame that this drama ends at episode 10. To be honest, i couldn't get enough from the trio. I really wished it was longer. I just like how those 3 have become a part of me. Since the story is told from Akira's point of view, it helps you understand each character more and helps you to appreciate the story. It's a warm and nice drama which focuses on friendship. I would give this drama a 10.o out of 10.0. :)
